PodCamp Montreal 2010 takes place this weekend. It’s an event that’s not to be missed!
What is PodCamp?
For those of you who are new to PodCamp, here’s a brief intro. PodCamp is an Internet-related conference that is attended by the various web design and develoment, and marketing communities in general but more specifically, it attracts people who are interested in social media. One unique aspect of PodCamp is that topic-wise, anything goes. Attendees are treated to a wide range of talks that are somehow related to social media. There is not set style to the talks and overall, it’s a great opportunity not only to learn, but to interact and discuss social media. Share your ideas and get feedback in a non-hostile environment.
If you have any interest in podcasting, blogging, videos, Facebook, Twitter, Internet business or any other social media-related to topic, you should attend. The beauty of niche conferences like this are that you will meet a lot of like-minded people in a great setting. PodCamp is one of those conferences where if you’re not sure if you should attend and then decide to do so, you’re always glad you made the right choice.
You may hear the word “unconference” a lot. The idea is that this is not a very formal conference in the sense that it’s one speaker and a bunch of listeners. You’re free to give your opinions when appropriate and everyone is supposed to be treated equally. You can also leave the room if you don’t like a given talk and go to another one. At PodCamp Montreal this year, there will be 3 streams to follow so at any given time you have the choice between 3 talks.
Search Vs. Social
My talk will be about the convergence of search engine marketing and social media and what it means for Internet marketers. Think of it as a Google versus Facebook discussion.
Event Details
You can get more info from the official website but here’s a summary:

Where: UQAM (University of Quebec at Montreal) Cœur des Sciences Campus (Heart of Science Campus). It’s close to Place Des Arts.
